The Nation’s Flag of India is really a horizontal rectangular tricolour India saffron, white-colored and India eco-friendly using the Ashoka Chakra, a 24-spoke wheel, in deep blue at its center. The manufacturing process and specifications for that flag are laid by the Bureau of Indian Standards. The authority to manufacture the flag takes place through the Khadi Development and Village Industries Commission, who allocates it to regional groups. By 2009, the Karnataka Khadi Gramodyoga Samyukta Sangha continues to be the only manufacturer from the flag.

Use of the flag is controlled by the Flag Code India along with other laws and regulations concerning the national emblems. The initial code prohibited utilization of the flag by private citizens except on national days like the Independence day and also the Republic Day.

In 2002, on hearing an appeal from the private citizen, Naveen Jindal, the final Court India directed the federal government India to amend the code to permit flag usage by private citizens. Subsequently, the Union Cabinet India amended the code to permit limited usage.

The code was amended once again in 2005 to permit extra use including adaptations on certain types of clothing. The flag code also governs the protocol of flying the flag and it is use along with other national and non-national flags.
